The Stewards of McCarren Park are a volunteer group that shows up rain or shine to detrash and spruce up the park. No sign-up forms, no commitment, just neighbors with grabbers and good intentions. If you want to put love into this park, this is the easiest possible way to start.

Beyond the obvious “a cleaner park is nice” angle, showing up regularly demonstrates to the Parks Department and elected officials that this community is genuinely invested in this space. It's a lot harder to ignore a neighborhood that's literally on the ground every week, taking care of the place they want to see transformed. Also, it's just a really nice way to meet your neighbors. 🌱
